How many monster collecting and battling augmented reality games does the world need? Well, developers Tag of Joy are obviously hoping at least one more, with the Monster Buster: World Invasion beta launch for android devices. The game was actually originally built as a prototype in 2012, and was the first monster ARG game when it appeared on Windows Phone back in 2014.
The game lets you choose one of three characters at the start. And you can then go on to find 40 original monsters throughout the real world, based on your location and smartphone camera.
You can sign up for the Monster Buster: World Invasion beta launch via the Tag of Joy website. And then try out the original 3D art, and a levelling system based on experience from quick fights and wild creature battles. The game rewards you with in-game gold coins and special ingredients which can be used to craft cookies and drinks for additional character boosting.
So if you’ve already caught ’em all in other games, then you might want to give Monster Buster: World Invasion a try and see what you think.
Tag of Joy are based in Lithuania, and have already collected a few awards for their work. Including several for Monster Buster: World Invasion when it was originally created back in 2014. Including Best Indie Game (GameOn 2016), and being a finalist in the European AppCup 2015.
